  1. Dinosaurs Live! at The Heard

    September 2, 2017 - February 20, 2018 @ Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

    Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s nature trails at the 12th annual Dinosaurs Live! The exhibit always gives families and friends a fun, educational activity to enjoy together. See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar! Photo op and play area dinosaurs will be available as well. This year, the exhibit also features an outdoor fossil dig. The dinosaur trail is jogging stroller friendly (it is not suitable for strollers with small wheels).

  2. Exhibit - POPPIES, A Symbol of Remembrance

    September 19, 2017, 9:00 AM - October 1, 2017, 12:00 PM @ Daily Exhibit (except Sundays), Open to the Public, $5.00 historic preservation donation.

    If you've ever been to the Red Poppy Festival in Georgetown, Texas, you'll know the vibrancy of bright red poppies and their symbol of remembrance. From September 19 through September 30th, the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts (McKinney's oldest art museum) will showcase poppy paintings, porcelain works, and current McKinney Artists' whimsical works (for sale to the public) featuring poppies. Remember a loved one with a gift of poppy art. Open during the day between 9:00 - 3:00 PM and on Saturday mornings from 8:00 - noon. At 205 W. Hunt. Tickets are available online.

  3. 2017 Farm and Food Leadership Conference

    September 24, 2017 - September 26, 2017 @ McKinney Performing Arts Center

    Rub shoulders with experts who will be discussing everything from the latest developments in sustainable agriculture and Texas food law to wild foraging in North Texas. Sponsored by the Farm & Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA). In its 11th year, the Farm & Food Leadership Conference offers two full days of sessions, with an extra day of Pre-Conference workshops. Concurrent tracks during the Main Conference offer compelling topics for local food producers as well as consumers. - Stay informed on the issues affecting your farms and your food. - Gather the resources you need to make change at the state and national legislative level. - Get involved and donate to support the work that FARFA does to protect our rights and local food systems.
