Chestnut Square Historic Village is a collection of six historic homes, a replica of a one-room school house, chapel and store on 2.5 acres just south of the downtown McKinney square. The grounds also include a blacksmith shop, smoke house, and beautiful chapel and reception gardens. The buildings include period artifacts showing how people lived in Collin County from 1854-1920. Also home to many events: Farmers Market, Ice Cream Crank-Off and Living History Days. Tours on Thursdays and Saturdays with trolley tours on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.

The Collin County Farm Museum strives to develop a better understanding and appreciation of Collin County’s rural heritage from the earliest settlement through the 1960s. The Collin County Farm Museum consists of 8,528 square feet of collections and restoration exhibits in the Wells Building. Additional artifacts are located throughout Myers Park & Event Center, including the Blacksmith Shop, the Granary and the Confinement house. Check the website for seasonal hours and class schedule.

Dennis Wehrmann comes from a family with a real brewing history. Born in the midst of Bavaria, he grew up in an area surrounded by several historic breweries. After moving to the U.S. with his wife in the late 1990s, he spent 4 years working for Two Rows until the first step was taken of fulfilling a long life dream of opening his own brewery Franconia Brewing Company. Scheduled brewery tours are every Saturday at 11 am. $5 per person - Free beer samples are included. For larger parties (over 20 people), we offer the option for separate appointments, so please call us for more information. Appointments Only.

This 289-acre nature preserve made up of a variety of habitats and miles of nature trails also features bird blinds, an Animals of the World Exhibit, educational pioneer village, butterfly gardens and a variety of indoor exhibits. One of the oldest cemeteries in North Texas, Pecan Grove is the final resting place for many early Texas pioneers, from Governors to gunslingers. Heroes of the Texas Revolution are interred here, as are veterans of the Mexican War, the War for Southern Independence, and every war thereafter. You will also see many old McKinney family names for which streets, schools, parks and other city amenities are named to memorialize them. Tours here are self-guided or fill out the online "Contact Us" form for assistance. Each Memorial Day, the cemetery is the site of a county-wide ceremony honoring our fallen; it is attended by state, county and local officials and hundreds of veterans and community members.
