Halloween is a fun holiday, no matter your age. Check out these 10 spooky and fun events planned in McKinney for Halloween 2018!
12th Annual Halloween at the Heard
- October 20
Families will once again enjoy an evening full of fun activities including a presentation of a family-friendly movie on the Heard's outdoor amphitheater stage.

6-10 p.m. at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place. Free (ages 2 and younger), $10 (ages 3-12), $15 (adults ages 12 and older).
Haunted Tour at Chestnut Square
- October 20
During this two-hour flashlight tour of haunted homes, attendees will hear the history of the home and ghostly activity reported. 8-10 p.m. $20 (ages 12 and older; ages 11 and under are not permitted). Chestnut Square, 315 S. Chestnut St.
Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk
- October 26-27
Self-guided tour of McKinney's most haunted locations! Starting at Chestnut Square, 315 S. Chestnut, 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, and 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
McKinney Fall Festival and Monster Dash 5K
- October 27
This family-fun event includes a race, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, music, costume contest, food, shopping and more. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Free (attendance), $25 (5K). Tupps Brewery, 721 Anderson St.

Halloween Boo Bash Social Dance Night
- October 12
The Halloween Boo Bash is a Halloween party for special needs individuals 18-years-old and older, along with their families and caregivers. $5. 6-8 p.m. McKinney Community Center, 2001 S. Central Expressway. 972-547-2690. www.mckinneytexas.org
Trick or Treat Trail
- October 25
Join your friends and neighbors for the first-ever Trick or Treat Trail on the Community Center Hike & Bike Trail, 2001 S. Central Expwy. Enjoy candy, sweet treats, a costume contest, games, music and food trucks and fun for all ages. 4:30-7 p.m. Register online to save a spot.
Neighborhood Night at the Movies
- October 26
Enjoy an outdoor movie - Monster House (PG) at Bonnie Wenk Park, 2996 Virginia Parkway. 7:30-10 p.m. Free to attend. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.
- October 27
Jump in the indoor pool and fetch your pumpkin then head to the decorating station to paint your jack-o-lantern scary or sweet. One pumpkin and one goody bag per child. $10 per child. 9 a.m.-noon at the Apex Centre, 3003 Alma Road. Register online.
Scare on the Square
Trick-or-treat safely on the Historic Downtown Square, which is closed off for trick-or-treaters to cross the street safely and go shop-to-shop for goodies. Bring your little goblins! 4-7 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Storybook Ranch Pumpkin Patch
- Daily thru October 31
Enjoy a hay maze, pony rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, wagon ride through the ranch's 1800s Western town and more! $15 per child, $5 per adult. Discounts available for large groups. 972-977-7333. Kids 2 and under are free. 3701 S. Custer Road.
