Star-Spangled Fun in McKinney

This time every year, McKinney is decked out in all its patriotic glory, from flags flying proudly in front yards of homes to red, white, and blue bunting hanging from downtown business awnings and storefronts. How can you celebrate Independence Day in McKinney? Here are some of the events taking place.
Land of Liberty Free Patriotic Concert
Sunday, July 1)
Nothing gets people into the patriotic mood than rousing music! The McKinney Community Band salutes our beloved Land of Liberty at their annual patriotic concert. As always, their concerts are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. To help the band track attendance, free tickets are available at their
link. Those with tickets/reservations will be seated first beginning at 3:30 p.m. Those without tickets may enter the theater starting at 3:50 p.m. Concert starts at 4 p.m. and will have one brief intermission.
Red, White & BOOM!
(Wednesday, July 4)
McKinney's annual Independence Day celebration begins in downtown McKinney with a hometown parade at 10 a.m. Immediately following the parade will be a classic car, truck and cycle show in the parking lot just north of City Hall at Tennessee and Lamar. Also after the parade, a Yankee Doodle block party will take place on E. Louisiana Street right, giving families a wide range of games and other activities to enjoy. Families can also explore the many dining and shopping options that downtown has to offer.
Evening festivities resume at the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch with music, food, kids’ activities, a concert and a fireworks display. All Red, White and BOOM! activities are free and open to the public. For more information about the event call 972-547-7480.
Star-Spangled Salsa Fest
(Wednesday, July 4)
This spicy food festival will provide tasty holiday fun for the whole family to enjoy. Its hot sauce competition will see individuals, spicy food pros, and chefs vying for top honors. Live entertainment will include a family fun zone, live music and of course, salsa dancing. Several local favorite food trucks, chefs, restaurants, and breweries will be there too.

Franconia celebrates July 4th early on Saturday, June 30th from noon-3 p.m. Enjoy brewery tours, craft beers, live music, and barbecue from Hutchins Barbecue. Admission to this fun
event is $25 for three craft beers from Franconia and lunch from Hutchins. Kids 12 and under eat free. 495 McKinney Parkway.
