Atop a hill north off Custer Road sits a ranch - a big house of buff brick and gray roof and a red barn sitting next to a white barn, the property surrounded by a white ranch rail fence. You may even notice a glass growhouse positioned behind the house. The finishing touch to this picturesque location is the family of donkeys and horses contentedly roaming and grazing.
What can’t be spotted from the outside is the fact that this beautiful spot in northwest McKinney is home to a quickly growing company, Farmhouse Fresh. The company makes beautifully packaged, 99% natural personal care products that are popular in spas, salons, hotels, resorts and specialty stores nationwide, as well as online.
Making Oprah's O'List
First introduced in 2005, FHF’s sea salt exfoliation trio for keeping cracked heels at bay even caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey who added these products to her famous “O-List.” Other products developed a few years later made the “O-List” a second time, too.
The FHF Ranch location in McKinney grows fresh microgreens and other ingredients hydroponically in their grow house. They also partner with U.S. farms that provide fresh fruits, vegetables, milks and more. The company products are 98% Texas-made, enabling FHF to be proud members of Go Texan. This woman-owned company also works closely with massage therapists, estheticians and international trainers in their beautifully appointed on-site training room.
While their local offices aren’t open to the public (they’re simply not large enough to give tours), the FHF produces are available locally in close to a dozen shops, spas and salon. And of course, there is their online store.
Paradise for Rescues
In addition to making and distributing their complete line of skin care and home products (they also offer a lush variety of candles), FHF has also opened the ranch up to some homeless creatures of the four-legged variety! Animal rescue is a passion of the FHF family that provides a home, veterinary care, healthy food and snacks, and plenty of love so they can, as their website says, "help animals erase the memories of their past and build new ones." They also dedicate time to assisting with animal rescue efforts including donating dog beds to shelters through their Dog Bed Fairy Program.
We at the McKinney CVB are happy and proud to include FHF as one of our many enthusiastic tourism partners.
